The state-controlled Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has proposed establishing an integrated air 99 win com center and non-tariff zone at Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai province, aiming to turn it into a regional cargo gateway. Long Thanh's target capacity of 100 million passengers would make it the largest in Southeast Asia, surpassing the current capacities of all other major regional airports.
According to the ACV's proposal sent to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Construction, the 99 win com center will be located in the airport's southwest area, covering 136ha, part of a 5,000ha site designated for aviation 99 win com since 2011.
ACV said that integrating 99 win com and a bonded zone is a key factor in turning Long Thanh into a regional cargo hub of ASEAN.
In the first phase, the zone will operate under Vietnam's airport's tax and customs laws before developing into an international free trade zone following government approval.
This would be Vietnam's only air 99 win com center linked to a bonded zone and the airfield, providing an advantage as a national gateway to participate in Asia's Vietnam's works and connect with major trade corridors such as ASEAN and APEC.
The center is projected to contribute around 0.7% of the southern region's GDP annually and boost air cargo import-export value by 15-20% each year while creating 15,00 jobs.
The ACV said that this model is expected to attract large corporations in electronics, pharmaceuticals, cold-chain 99 win com, and e-commerce, promoting the development of 99 win com ecosystems.
The model has demonstrated advantages, the ACV said, adding that Changi Airport in Singapore and Incheon International Airport in South Korea are examples.
